  Use the link below to download, and if you like print, "The No-Nonsense, Technician Class License Study Guide" and read through the material several times. Don't try to memorize anything. Just read it. I have posted this file below to make this easy for you:

• Step 2:

  Take the practice test online and continue taking the practice test over and over until you can consistently score 93% or better - at least three times in a row. Don't worry if you score poorly the first few times. You will improve! (These are the exact same questions that will appear on the real exam. And it's fun!) Here is the link:

• Step 3:

  Use the link below to find a convenient examination location and time near you. All you have to do is enter is your zip code. Note that these are given weekly at the St Louis County Library/Cliff Cave Branch at 6:30 PM on various week nights and Walk-ins are allowed!

  It only costs about $15 to take the exam, which will get you your license for no additional cost. Spend $30 to $40 to buy a hand-held ham radio and you are a real ham operator for a total cost of just $55 or less and a little bit of your time!

How to clone the Baofeng UV5R (requires a cloning cable): With both radios off, connect the clonning cable to both radios. Turn on empty radio. While holding exit button down on radio to be copied, turn second radio on. Red light will flash, release exit button. Green light on receiving radio will also be flashing. After several seconds lights stop flashing. Turn off, disconnect, you are cloned.
